About

JULIE FINIGAN MORRIS is a writer living on her family’s working cattle ranch on the Central Coast of California. She is a fifth-generation Californian who grew up in San Francisco. She graduated with a degree in Journalism from San Diego State University, and studied her Junior year abroad in Florence, Italy, where she cooked and ate a lot. Upon graduation, she moved to Washington, D.C. where she covered Capitol Hill for Thomson Newspapers (now Thomson Reuters). When she moved home to California she went to work as a staff writer for McClatchy Newspapers. After that, she was a staff writer at  the independently-owned weekly, The Pinnacle, in Hollister, Calif.  While there, she was awarded First Place by the California Newspaper Publishers’ Association for environmental reporting.

Along with writing, she is involved in community organizing and markets certified grassfed beef to customers throughout California. The experience has raised her awareness of the value of food that is produced close to home, processed as little as possible, and prepared in a kitchen filled with family and friends. She is currently working on her first novel, to be  published in 2012.

Bon Appetit!
